We are not special guest to observe the brewery,
and this brewery has the tour everyday for people who are interested in.

And, it is free.

Moreover!!

You can drink beer after the tour.

We have no choice not to go!!

It takes 10 minutes by walk from Namamugi station to KIRIN Yokohama brewery.
Just take the Keikyu line bound for Shinagawa from Yokohama station,
and you can get Namamugi station in 10 minutes.
When you see the welcoming board, it is the brewery.

Enter the inside and reception.

The tour is usually full, so we recommend to reserve before.

You can get the instruction book in English version.
the explanation of tour is in Japanese,
but if you have this instruction,
you can get the meaning what they say.

Well, it is about time to round the tour !
It is 80 minutes tour, and in last 20 minutes,
there is the tasting time that everybody is exciting for.

Wait, no. We did not come here to drink beer.
We need to study the process to be made delicious beer.

First of all, you can study on the screen about the history of beer and features of KIRIN beer.

We were surprised that we study on the screen like movie theater.

Patrick is surprising.

After finishing the explanation,
we go to inside of the brewery.

First, we learned how to become beer.

Briefly speaking,
Beer is consist of malts, hop, and water.
But, have you ever seen actual malts and hops?

kirin6  kirin7
Here, you can actually eat the malt, or you can smell the hops.
We cannot even imagine to become beer yet!

Next, you can learn the process of making beer and you can see the big kiln.

From here, we could see just small part,
but anyway it was so big!
In this process, crash the malts and filtered in order to extract the sweet wort.

The tour explained us what is going on in kiln by using projection mapping.
It felt like we came here for watching show, not tour.

Generally speaking, the beer is consist of first squeeze and second squeeze of sweet wort.
However, the main brand of KIRIN beer, Ichiban-shibori, use only first squeeze of sweet wort.
(Ichiban shibori means first squeeze of sweet wort.)
This is the secret of KIRIN beer!!!

You can taste the first squeeze and second squeeze.
When comparing these two sweet wort,
first squeeze one is richer and sweeter than second one.
It tasted like juice. malt juice??

We have really curious about making beer.

After that, hops which are basis of bitter and smell are added,
and add the yeast for ferment.

Hey, What is Patrick doing?

Actually, the yeast is made if you make the shade of droplet on the table,
and you can learn how the fermentation goes.
It is easy to understand how to become beer.
Children can enjoy and learn, right?

This is the machine for print and filled beer into cans.
FYI, this machine can fill 2000 beer cans in a minute.

Everybody took a picture in this process.

There you go people.

Beer tasting!!
Look at this Patrick’s face lol

Cheers!!

You can drink 3 beers as long as times up.
Of course, you do not have to finish all 3 beers,
but these guys finished it lol

Because we learned the process of making beer,
we felt the taste is deeper than usual.

Hey Camera man!!

He was drunk by just one beer lol
Of course, here has non alcohol drinks,
so people who do not like to drink alcohol or people
who are coming here by car should drink soft drink.

Came over the souvenir shop after the tour.

There were lots of interesting products such as Ichiban Shibori beer jelly chocolate.

These 3 people went to SPRING VALLEY BREWERY
which is the pub where you can enjoy craft beer in the brewery.

But, camera man got drunk, so that’s all for today lol

Finally, comments from these guys…
